Coinciding with Islands, the conference of the Australian and New Zealand Musicological Societies, and as a part of Building Musical Futures, the 50th anniversary celebration of Queensland Conservatorium, was the second edition of Encounters.
Encounters II was an exciting exploration through performances and discussion of the multifaceted relationship of Australian music with the Asia-Pacific region at large. It brought together a suite of themes: islands, water, voyages of discovery, and utopias in music.
